The Hermitage theatre hosted "Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society Day in the Hermitage" concert
The Hermitage theatre hosted "IOPS Day in the Hermitage" concert, dedicated to the memory of the first Chairman of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society the Grand prince Sergey Aleksandrovich Romanov.

The Grand prince left a big mark in the Russian history as a prominent statesman, he initiated establishment of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society and remained its Chairman until his death.

Along with the said Sergey Aleksandrovich greatly contributed into development of the national culture and science.
When analysing everything that the Grand prince did one cannot but recognise him one of the major figures of Russia at the edge of XIX–XX centuries.

The concert dedicated to the memory of Sergey Aleksandrovich Romanov was opened by Director General of the State Hermitage, the Chairman of the St. Petersburg department of IOPS - Mikhail Borisovich Piotrovskiy

Among the participants of the concert there were the L.G.Zykina State academic Russian folk ensemble "Rossiya", art director and conductor Dmitriy Dmitrienko, the soloist of the Mariinskiy theatre Elena Ushakova, women's choir "Quellen", vocal ensemble "Akvatoriya", soloists of the Academy of young singers of the Mariinskiy theatre: Dmitriy Lebamba, Anna Shulgina, a laureate of international contests Sergey Kaydalov, a laureate of international contests Anatoliy Fursenko, an author and performer of Russian romantic songs from St. Petersburg Aleksandr Dzhigit as well as a guest soloist of the Mikhailovskiy theatre Mikhail Gavrilov.

During the concert a world premiere of "Jerusalem" musical composition took place; it was written in the nineteenth century by a Russian choir conductor and composer Mikhail Romanovich Shchiglev under the impression from the first visit to Jerusalem. The musical composition was performed by "Akvatoriya" vocal ensemble under the direction of Dmitriy Stepanenko.

Upon finish of the concert guests warmly thanked its organisers: project manager - Pavel Aleksandrovich Karpukhin, the President of the International charity festival of Christian culture "Russia-Greece. Time through centuries" and Director General of the State Hermitage, the Chairman of the St. Petersburg department of IOPS - Mikhail Borisovich Piotrovskiy.
